Proposed Amendments to Branch Rules

The below proposed amendments to Branch Rules are outcomes from the Branch Development Plan.

Rule 19. Stewards
Proposed change.
19. (a) Steward -Mail box only - to act as a two way conduit for communications to and from the branch in order to ensure all members within the workplace are communicated with effectively.

19. (b) Steward - representative - to recruit non members, to assist and represent members in grievances and or disciplinaries.

19 (a) - 19 (f) becomes 19 (c) - (h)
New 19 (i) the branch shall have the right to remove a steward from office if they refuse to fulfil their role as a representative for members unless they can provide justification. This decision will be ratified at a Branch Executive following the recommendation from the Convenor of that group and the Branch Secretary.

Rule 11. Branch Officers
Proposed change
11 (d) Branch Officer Responsibilities are as laid down in the National Rules and Code of Good Branch Practice, as directed by the Branch Executive Committee. Failure by any officer to uphold the duties of their role will be considered by the Branch Executive and could result in the Officer being removed from post unless they can provide justification.
