Special General Meeting on Job Evaluation - Wed 1 Nov 06

Held in the Royal School for the Deaf, Topsham Road, Exeter A well attended Special General Meeting at the Royal School for the Deaf, Exeter-1 Nov 06.

At this well-attended meeting meeting the following motion was carried with an overwhelmingly majority:

Motion to the Special General Meeting 1 Nov 06

The Devon County staff side recommend this Special General Meeting vote to accept in full the Job Evaluation Collective Agreement (final version October 2006)(143KB opens in new window).

The Staff side group have been partners in a joint review group consisting of UNISON, GMB, TGWU and representatives of the authority in delivering the project findings.

UNISON Staff side believe that the following proposals contained in the Collective Agreement meet fully and comply with the guidance on Equalities and delivering Equal Pay for work of Equal Value.

  1. An open and transparent evaluation process, which will be ongoing, across the authority for all staff covered by the NJC terms and Conditions (including school support staff).
  2. A fair and equitable process of Appeal for staff who believe they have been treated unfairly.
  3. An agreed policy on Market Supplements and their application.
  4. An agreed policy on linked grades and their application.
  5. 3 years full salary protection for any Red circled staff ( those whose new salary on 1 Apr 07 will be less than their current salary)
  6. That staff within the Red circled group will receive support in training and development to seek to aid future career progression.
  7. 1 years back pay for Green circled staff.
  8. 6 years compensatory pay for Green circled staff (meeting the maximum years on Equal Pay)

Your negotiators and Regional Officer will be available at the General Meeting to explain the proposals; so please bring any questions or queries you have to the meeting and take advantage of the opportunity to ask them for answers.
