Political fund ballot 2005

Vote 'Yes'.

Our Political Fund is now safe for another 10 years

There was an 85% 'Yes' return in the recent vote!

The political fund ballot of all members (except Northern Ireland) takes place soon.

Papers will be sent to members. (Think: does the UNISON HQ have your latest address? Let them know online now if not!)

The Ballot starts 11 Feb 05 and all papers must be returned by 11 Mar 05.

By law it must be carried out every 10 years and asks the simple question: 'Do you approve the continuation of UNISON's political fund arrangements?'

Even if as a member you currently choose not to pay some of your subs into the Political Fund (whether the General one or to Labour Link), please vote 'Yes' in the ballot so that those members who do wish to can carry on making their choice.

Rember, members have the unique choice of contributing to either

UNISON campaigns hard to defend jobs and services and to promote equality, defend pensions, and protect the health and safety of members. These campaigns would not be effective without our political funds.

We have to campaign vociferously for things we believe are right and in our members' interests. We have to talk to politicians and ministers as well as employers. But we can only do this effectively if we have a fund.

A high turnout of 'yes' votes will guarantee that UNISON still has a voice to defend members' interests in the political arena. It is therefore essential members know how important our political fund is and how vital it is for them to vote.
