Roberto Franceschini, Branch Chair, and Councillor Brian Greenslade at the lauch of the Devon County Council's latest Strategic Plan.
UNISON was invited to the Launch of the Strategic Plan that the current Lib Dem administration has drawn up to indicate the areas of priority for the Council in the four years to 2009, it also sets target to be reached in meeting these at the end of the third year. The essential contribution of staff in working to aim for these targets relies on goodwill, motivation, training and sufficient resources being made available. We look forward to this happening.
UNISON, however, was not consulted in the preparation of the strategic plan (copies available on the Devon County Council's website - opens in new window) and at the Personnel Partership meeting, on 27 Apr 06, this regrettable lack of consultation was made clear to Elected Members by the Branch Staff Side. The picture shows Branch Chair Roberto Franceschini who attended the event with the Council leader, Brian Greenslade, and with the Environment Portfolio holder, Margaret Rogers. There was also a TV news comment from UNISON about the importance of motivating and consulting with staff, which was shown on the local news.
