Who should have the final say on any grievance or involving you?

- for Devon County Council employees

In Spring 06 we polled members visiting this website with the question below.Just to feedback that we had a 100% 'Yes' vote - branch members clearly wish to retain the final appeal to Councillors!

(This poll has now finished and is no longer operative. May 06)

Grievance Appeals - who should have final say?

It is proposed by the County Council that our Employers, the Elected Members, should not continue to be our final court of appeal with Grievance Procedures. It is proposed that the chief officers become responsible instead. (Originally this Poll also included the right of appeal in Disciplinaries but management have now withdrawn their proposed change for Disciplinaries but still wish to remove the final appeal with Grievance Procedures).

UNISON is concerned that this might lead to the risk of affecting the impartiality of a hearing.

We have asked for the right to consult our members to see what you think, so please respond to the following:

'I wish to keep my right of appeal to the Elected Members.'

[Have you completed all three boxes?]
