Branch Secretary's Report
to AGM - 2 Mar 05
As you will know I have been away on sick leave, this was due to work related stress. I tried to cover my work, the work of the Office Manager and representation of members, due to the heavy work load, surprise, surprise, something had to give.
I have enjoyed the last two years very much and would have liked to carry on in this role, however under the circumstances I felt I needed to step back for a while. I have gained a great deal of experience and knowledge of industrial relations and would like to thank all of you for your support and encouragement during this time. I must also say a special thank you to Moira Andrews who was a great support to me.
I do intend to be active within the branch in the future once I have recharged the old batteries. I am writing a feedback report which looks at my experiences in my role of branch secretary over the last two years and it will look at the roles played by both Management and UNISON, and my views on the way forward to improve industrial relation within Devon County Council. I hope that you will all get a chance to read it.
I would ask that full support be given to the next Branch Secretary, the role is a lot more complicated than you may think.
Kind regards
Ed Naylor-Williams
