Explanation of Cartoon

A cartoon in six boxes and is headed 'The Joys of Performance Related Pay'.

First box: a little man stands in front of a display board and points to a chart and says ' ... here's my target.'

Second box: shows him jumping from one box through a burning hoop and on to another box. The caption reads '.. now to jump through these.'

Third box: he sits at his desk furiously writing and working through mounds of paper. The caption reads ' .. do all my paperwork.'

Fourth box: he stands on the top step of a three level podium. Two colleagues stand below him looking very disgruntled while the little man is jubilant. Behind them is a poster reading 'McMug's Employee of the Month'. The caption just says 'Yes! and clearly the little man has won.

Fifth box: a hand with a £20 pound note is handed to the little man with the comment '.. and here's your little extra' whilst the man asks 'Anything towards my pension?' and looks disappointed.

Last box: the hand that had given out the £20 then gives him something else and says 'Well, have a Gold Star..' and the little man looks most put out and thinks 'Wish I'd joined UNISON ...'.
