The Learning Curve

You might think research is dry and boring but a new project on national UNISON's lifelong learning programmes may change your mind as researchers look to record the experiences of UNISON members in their own words.


National Scheme for Financial Assistance with Learning

This scheme provides financial help to members Trade Union, Labour Studies Courses and in general Non-Vocational Education. There are four types of award available: bursary, flexible bursary, Open University, and book grant. For information contact:

South West Regional Education Student Fund

Awards are given from this fund to help with the cost of course fees and books, travel costs or other expenses relating to courses on Trade Unions, Labour and Womens' Studies.

All applications should be made before 30 June each year, and are available from the Regional Education Team at the Taunton Office.

Open University Discount Opportunity:  Faculty of Health and Social Care

 

The Faculty of Health and Social Care’s courses offer you the opportunity to develop or update your knowledge and skills or gain a qualification in a subject related to your work or personal interest.

UNISON members paying their own fees can obtain a discount of 10% on the normal fees charged by the Open University for courses in the Health and Social Care programme at Levels 1, 2 and 3.

One course, Understanding Health and Social Care (K101), is particularly recommended for people seeking to access social work or nurse qualifying courses.
