Just
Desserts - 'Feedback' (hmm...)
To all of you who attended, thank you, to all of you that didn't
you missed a real treat.
The venue was great with the most spectacular views, the drinks were cheap, the desserts were plentiful and stunningly delicious, and the information available was extensive and varied while the quiz was very informative and really made our brains work.
As people arrived they were encouraged to look at the information and chat to each other. We started the evening with introductions; your first name linked to a drink, Advocat Ann, Bloody Mary Moira etc. followed by information on UNISON and the power we can have if we pull together. Moira explained how as women of Devon County UNISON we can identify an issue and move it forward to Women's Conference, on to National Conference and get it integrated into the policy of UNISON by the support of other branches and regions, she used the issue of affordable childcare as an illustration.
Then we got down to the business of tasting the desserts, lime & coconut
tart, strawberry pavlova, fresh strawberries, fruit covered in melted chocolate
- the things I have to do for UNISON! Feeling quite bloated (not a pretty
sight) I moved through the patio doors to the picnic table with my drink
and soaked in the view. I was soon brought back to reality as we started
the quiz. Rose Gander was the highest scorer but we all had a good laugh
and were amazed at the information we picked up. Of course then we had to
finish the puds. The evening was rounded off with a cuppa and we all left
for home.
I must say a special thank you to the Regional Women's Officer Rhianon Passmore and one of the Regional Women's Committee Convenors, Tina Gardner, who both had very long journeys to be there, and in Rhianon's case both long and eventful!
