Women's Group Report - Jan 06

I tried to get some money from the Ruth Elliott Bursary; the idea was to get some resources and to perhaps look at paying for expenses of women who attended the meetings. Unfortunately I was not successful.

On 26 Nov 06, Region supported the Women's Fun Day, the weather was not conducive to travel but we still managed to get about 50 women attending.

The day was a great success and Nicky from regional office, said the evaluations were virtually all positive.

A Pensions evening has been arranged for 18 Jan 06 at the Imperial Hotel in Barnstaple. The speaker is Geraldine Fernandez who is going to address the importance of women having their own pension as well as an update on the Local Government Pension Scheme.

I will use the pensions evening as a research tool to discover ways of encourage members to attend meetings. I would like to offer, in North Devon, 3 more meetings during 2006. With support, I would also like to start thinking about another area of Devon. Offers of help, thoughts and ideas on where, would be gratefully received

I am attending the Women's Conference in February at Gateshead and look forward to exchanging views / ideas with like-minded colleagues.
