The Government’s latest (and possibly most bizarre) move is to include the Equality Act on a Cabinet Office website on cutting red tape, inviting people to say whether they think it should be scrapped!
The idea that the Equality Act is unnecessary regulation when it is in fact primary legislation, that it burdens business and should be done away, would not normally be worthy of a response. But when it’s Government raising that spectre, we do need our voices to be heard. Let them know what you think at http://www.redtapechallenge.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/equalities/
