International Awareness - other ways to give support

UNISON campaigns for decent working conditions across the globe. We encourage members and branches to take responsible action in support of global justice whenever possible. National UNISON takes action to protect all trade unionists and help trade unions to build and strengthen their organisations.

As a UNISON member, you can show solidarity with your fellow workers across the world, who are working to put the food on your table.

International trade may seem a remote issue, but when commodity prices fall dramatically it has a catastrophic impact on the lives of millions of small scale producers, forcing many into crippling debt and countless others to lose their land and their homes.

Consumers can help by buying products bearing the Fairtrade logo. You'll know that in the role of consumer you're helping to improve the situation for producers. These products are bought direct from farmers at better prices, on the basis of a fair trade.

Convert your workplace

Enjoy a Fairtrade espresso at the office. There are hundreds of Fairtrade certified teas and coffees to choose from, as well as Fairtrade hot chocolate, sugar, bananas, and vending machines, all at competitive prices. Visit: www.fairtrade.org.uk.
